The President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron asks for the organization of consultation with the sports federations “in order to facilitate the deployment of leagues of Alsace”. A clear message to the attention of football and tennis, which have so far refused to accede to the request of elected Alsatians.
Surrounded by several leaders of Alsatian sport, but also by Frédéric Berry, the president of the European Community of Alsace (CEA), the deputy Bruno Fuchs (Modem) was instructed by the Elysée to deliver this Friday in Mulhouse a letter addressed by Emmanuel Macron to the presidents of clubs and departmental committees who wish to return to independent sports leagues in Alsace in the Grand Est. In response to the open letter sent to him by the Collectif Sportif pour l’Alsace, the President of the Republic asked for the organization of consultation with the sports federations “in order to facilitate the deployment of leagues in Alsace”. A clear message to the attention of football and tennis, which have so far refused to accede to the request of elected Alsatians.
“I want to assure you of the attention I have paid to your expectations regarding the reconstitution of the sports leagues of Alsace”, writes Emmanuel Macron. “Roxana Maracineanu, Minister in charge of Sports, signified the agreement in principle which would be expressed to the sports federations which would request the formation of leagues in Alsace. I can therefore tell you that I have asked the minister to soon organize a consultation with the sports federations, in order to facilitate the deployment of leagues in Alsace. It will keep you directly informed, as well as the parliamentarians and local elected officials involved, of the follow-up to this consultation.
“Recognize the particularity of the Alsatian identity”
“I am committed to giving local actors, who are as close as possible to the realities on the ground, the means of their action and their ambition for their territory, in particular by devoting the right to differentiation”, continues Emmanuel Macron. “This is one of the objectives of the law relating to differentiation, decentralization, deconcentration, known as 3DS, like the law of 2 August 2019 relating to the powers of the CEA, in response to some of the difficulties caused by the law Notre for your territory and in order to recognize the particularity of the Alsatian identity.
Moreton and Le Graët will have to negotiate
The president of the FFT Gilles Moreton, who had abolished the Ligue d’Alsace de tennis as soon as he took over the presidency of the French Tennis Federation, in mid-February 2021, and the president of the French Football Federation Noël Le Graët, who also said he was opposed to the recreation of a League of Alsace, will therefore have to participate in a consultation whose object will not be the existence, but the “deployment” of these leagues of Alsace that They refuse. And this, despite the votes of more than 90% of the presidents of Alsatian tennis and football clubs in favor of the return to an independent LAT and LAFA in the Grand Est.
