What is Gaganyaan Mission?
Gaganyaan is India’s first manned mission to be sent to space. Its purpose is to show the ability to send humans to low Earth orbit and bring them back from an Indian launch vehicle.

Gaganyaan will cost 10 thousand crores
Gaganyaan’s mission was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Red Fort on 15 August 2018. About 10 thousand crore rupees will be spent on the mission. For this, the Union Cabinet had approved in 2018 itself. ISRO has tied up with Glavkosmos, the Russian space agency.

Four Indian Air Force officers, including one Group Captain and three Wing Commanders, have been selected for the mission, having completed training in Russia for 1 Group Captain and 3 Wing Commanders. He has completed his one-year training in the city of Zvozdny Gorodok, Russia. Also two flight surgeons are taking training in Russia and France.

Gaganyaan module will be trained in Bangalore
ISRO scientists had told that after taking training in Russia, these four Gaganauts will be given training of Gaganyaan module in Bengaluru. This module has been made by ISRO itself. No other country’s help has been taken in this.

There may be delay in the mission,
ISRO had earlier said to send the Gaganyaan mission by December 2021. At the same time, the time of December 2020 and July 2021 was fixed for the unmanned mission. Union Space Minister Jitendra Singh had said in February this year that the first unmanned mission is set to be completed in December 2021. A second unmanned mission is planned in 2022-23 and thereafter manned spacecraft.
